Research has been shown that there is an indirect relation between absent rates and student dropouts. The reason behind the increase in absent rates is due to a lack of educational progress.

There should be a deeper understanding of this problem. Effective strategies are increasing but not definitive.

Here are tips to improve student attendance

Track absences in real-time. Making an attendance sheet or a biometric attendance system helps the teachers to track the ones who are absent. Also, there should be marks on attendance, so that nobody takes it lightly.

Issues regarding student engagement and absence are complex and there are no simple solutions to that. Calling a child “truant” would take us to nowhere also ignoring the underlying problems of not coming to school. Also, it is often told that keeping a child for six hours where they don’t want to stay is an ultimate failure. Also, everyone is concerned about their child’s well-being and it needs to be involved in finding solutions, looking into the matter from a different perspective. For that, we need to be committed to the work imposed on us. Every system has its drawbacks. Systematic solutions will originate from the teachers, administrators who understand the system and its importance in supporting, engaging, challenging, significant relationships.
